National Association of Computer Science Students, (NACOSS) said that they are inspired by the success story of the Zinox Group and they have studied the development of the Zinox Group from the early days of Task in 1988.
Segun Adanigbo, national president who led the national executive on a courtesy visit to the Zinox Corporate headquarters, in Lagos described the Zinox Group as evidence of the sustained pioneering ingenuity of Leo Stan Ekeh the chairman.
Adanigbo said that they were inspired by the fact that Task Systems is Nigeria’s Number 1 solutions company; Technology Distributions the Number 1 ICT distribution company in sub Saharan Africa; and Zinox the manufacturer of the fastest selling PCs in Nigeria.
He also described these achievements as a source of hope for the youths given the high mortality rate in the IT sector arising from the under development of the Nigerian economy and the depressed global economy.
The NACOSS executive, on behalf of the over 250,000 ICT minded youths in Nigeria, also presented the Award of national ICT Icon to Ekeh, in recognition of his “immeasurable contributions toward youths empowerment, nation building, and the development of the Information and Communications Technology Industry in Nigeria”.
Receiving the Award, Ekeh, thanked the students and described the recognition as fulfilling because it was coming from students, the leaders of tomorrow.
Ekeh told them that they were already reading the right course, computer sciences, but they must work hard and make good grades.
He advised the students that they must remain focused on IT because IT would be the main driver of all aspect s of the economy. In his words “do not allow any situation or anybody to put you off. The economy would always need professional like you to drive the ICT revolution”.
The Zinox boss pleaded with the students to read widely and not allow themselves to be pigeon holed in computer science alone. They must be interested in History, Music, Geography, Biology and other subjects in order to make a good computer professional.
Replying to a request for Zinox partnership with NACOSS, the Zinox chairman said that the Zinox Group would always support the activities of NACOSS.
He promised to be personally present at the next convention if he is in the country.
Ekeh revealed that innovation is at the heart of the survival of the Zinox Group. Innovations enable you as an IT professional to add value to what you are offering the consumer.
Alluding to the incorporation of the Naira sign on the Zinox international keyboard as the defining act of the indigenous computer, the Zinox boss urged the students to be creative and always seek new ways of doing things.
“You must add value to your consumer, the ICT profession as a body of knowledge, and to your nation. That is the only time that you can call yourself a true ICT professional” he stated
Zinox Group is Africa’s most integrated ICT firm, launched in 2001 by a team of tested IT technocrats with a combined experience of over 128 years in different continents led by Ekeh.
The group is the foremost company to go into the uncharted terrain of Computer production in West Africa; Distribution; Integrated ICT Solutions and more. Zinox had Nigeria in mind as it debuted with the first ever Nigerian internationally certified branded computers with the Naira keyboard.
Zinox technologies with its strong research and development backbone has developed a variety of uncommon products that are internationally certified and enough local and international capacities to support her future expansion and structured growth in other digital solutions areas other than Computer Manufacturing.
