Nairanet has signed a partnership agreement with Axis Technology to provide biometrics service for Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) deployed by banks.
Kenneth Miebaka Adoki, managing director, Nairanet, said that Axis Technology has a track record in offering biometrics security service at ATM around the world, which informed his company’s partnership with it.
He explained that the use of biometrics has become necessary because of activities of fraudsters who have infiltrated the e-payment system in the country; adding that the service does not require a new ATM but the use of fingerprint in addition to personal identification number (PIN).
Adoki said that the comprehensive image processing and user verification time will be less than one second; while global languages support options will be provided on the platform, and that the service will provide fully automated system with unmatched user convenience.
“As new technologies are springing up with the advancement of information technology, Nigeria will not be left out,” he said.
He harped on the need for all to accept the use of biometric means of transaction for security reasons, even as he assured Nigerians that the system is effective and has proved itself since Axis technology began its use in India.
