NCC Confiscates N1.5m Pirated Broadcast Contrivances

Officers of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) have destroyed several broadcast devices used in the illegal distribution of copyright protected cable Television Signal within the North and South Bank areas of Makurdi, Benue State.

The seizures estimated at N1.5 Million were conducted during an enforcement action against broadcast piracy from Monday January 30 to Wednesday February 1, 2017.

Mr. Augustine Amodu, director Enforcement, NCC, who disclosed this in a report noted the three-day raid was carried out by a joint team of Copyright Officers, Mobile Policemen and an Official from Multichoice Nigeria.

He said several wires used for the illegal signal transmission were cut while boosters and senders were confiscated.

Mr Amodu further disclosed that investigation is still on-going and that all the culprits and theirs accomplices will be arrested and prosecuted.
