Prof Umar Garba Danbatta, executive vice chairman who stated this in Zaria, Kaduna State during the 38th edition of the Consumer Town Hall Meeting (CTM) themed, ‘Information and Education as Catalyst for Consumer Protection’, said telcos often deceived customers by sending misleading information which led them into making wrong choices.

Prof Danbata, who was represented by Alhaji Ismail Adedigba, deputy director, Consumer Affairs Bureau, boss said telecom consumers have the right to receive correct information on services they subscribed to.

“These rights include but not limited to: the right to receive correct information on services they subscribed to; the right to be provided with clear, complete, and accurate information with a language that will be understood.”

On her part Mrs Felicia Onwuegbuchulam, director, Consumer Affairs Bureau, said the forum sought to ensure that consumers have value for their money as well as served as feed back mechanism for the commission in making regulatory interventions for the benefit of all parties.
