Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has conferred its professional fellowship on members who through their expertise have contributed to the advancement of information technology in Nigeria.
Engr. Ifeanyi Frank Ogochukwu an accomplished IT and Aviation professional and thirteen others were on the 30th November, 2016 at the MUSON Centre, Lagos conferred with the professional fellowship of the Nigeria Computer Society.
According to Professor Sola Aderounmu, NCS President, Ogochukwu a top notch IT professional in the aviation industry, has contributed immensely and is still contributing to the safety of air navigation globally particularly in Nigeria both technically and by advocacy.
Ogochukwu, a Licensed Air Traffic Safety Electronics Specialist, Worldclass CIO, arguably Nigeria first public sector titled CIO, IT Ambassador and a Microsoft Hero was until May, 2015 the Chief Information Officer/ General Manager (ICT), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency and is currently Chief Technology Strategist, Debbie Mishael Consulting and the Founder, CxO Africa – a technology and business leadership platform. Ifeanyi managed NAMA’s IT infrastructure and Systems in over 26 airport locations.
A highly driven result oriented, consummate and strategic Technology, Aviation and Management professional with multifaceted knowledge, skill and competencies: have over thirty years’ experience and proven track record in managing cutting edge technology and people particularly within the air transport environment and delivering on aviation industry based projects, empowering professionals and interns; and driven by the vision of maximizing opportunities and assuring a safe and secure aviation sector. He established a world class ICT organization from scratch and strategically created value driven transformational solutions and infrastructure for the efficiency and safety of Air Navigatione.g. e-Flight Plan, e-NOTAM and e- Flight Clearance.
Ifeanyi, an Aeronautical Telecommunications Engineering and Business Degree graduate, also received with distinction a Master’s degree in Communications Management, Masters in Information Technology, PG in IT and Telecoms Law and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree - IT and Telecoms Law. His educational journey to date include: Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, University of Abuja, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Coventry University, University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom Telecommunications Academy, University of Rwanda, Buckinghamshire New University, Belmont University, ITU Centre of Excellence and Open University of Tanzania.
Professional trainings include amongst others: Satellite Communications; Communication, Navigation and Air Traffic Management for Engineers; Strategic SLA Management for ICT; Certified Information Security Consultant; Digital Forensic and Ethical Hacking; Aviation Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection, Testing and Quality Assurance; Safety Management System; ICT Business Manager Certification; Aeronautical Information Management and Performance Based Navigation; Open Source Systems; Network and Enterprise Architecture; Cloud and Storage Certification; TRACON Skywan VSAT; Data Communications; Surveillance Radar Systems and Project Management Certification.
In the course of his professional career Ifeanyi held several career and project positions including: Chairman/Lead Working Group (WG 4) of the ITU Focus Group on Aviation Applications in the Cloud for Flight Data Monitoring ( FG AC);Member, Technical Advisory Committee to HMCT; Project Coordinator NAMA World Bank Project Implementation Unit (PIU) - West and Central African Air Transport Safety and Security Programme.
Others are, Project Manager: Controller Pilot Data Link Communications and Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Contract, SITA NAMA Air Traffic Communications Network Consultancy, Airspace Vulnerability Security Assessment Audit, Enterprise IT Infrastructure; Team Lead: Total Radar Coverage of Nigeria Airspace VSAT Network Design and Implementation; Project Coordinator - Emergency Training Needs Assessment, Microsoft Dynamics AX Enterprise Resource Planning Software Implementation.
Other projects include Project Team Member: World Geodetic Survey-84 and Performance Based Navigation, Corporate Strategy and Impact Plan Team; Project Administrator and Facilitator - e-Flight Plan and e-NOTAM ( Notice to Air Men) and e - Flight Clearance; Programme Design and Implementation Manager - ICT Capacity Building for over 2000 NAMA staff, Training provider and Administrator for over 1500 IT interns - 2001 – 2015and IT Capacity Building for League of Airport Correspondents (LAAC) where he was nicknamed IT Father; Project Management trainer for NAMA staff, also Principal Officer ATC Surveillance Radar Systems/ National Y2K Programme Secretary Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria where he was nicknamed Y2K; Principal Officer - Electronics Communications, Federal Civil Aviation Authority.
He is a member of several professional bodies including: Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria; Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria; Fellow: Institute of Business Development and Institute of Aviation Management; Institute of Chartered IT Professionals -South Africa; National Association of Air Traffic Engineers; International Federation of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Associations;(Life Member, Nigerian Computer Society; Nigerian Institute of Management; Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and Information Technology Systems and Security Professionals. Ifeanyi is a trainer, facilitator and CIO Coach.
