NCS Harps On R&D for National Development

Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has called for collaborative, purposeful and rigorous research effort towards national development.

Professor David Adewumi, NCS’s president made the remark at the second edition of National Computer Science / Information Technology Research and Development Workshop organized by NCS recently.

Adewumi said there are little Nigerian can achieve developmental wise, without research and development and emphasized on the need for collaboration between government agencies and private sector.

He recommended that there should be a conscious effort by IT professionals or researchers to make information available at all time, since human existence and national development depend information for satisfaction.

 NCS, the umbrella organization of all Information Technology Professionals, Interest Groups and Stakeholders in Nigeria held the workshop at Centre of Excellence in Software Engineering, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

“The main goal of the workshop was to reignite the passion and point on the ways forward to researchers in the IT domain whose works are imperative in the quest to build collaborative, purposeful and rigorous research effort towards our national development,” Adewumi said.

The workshop was organized by NCS in collaboration with Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).

Aside building collaborative, purposeful and rigorous research efforts towards national building, the workshop offered practical, innovative, useful strategies for people wanting to improve their personal and professional lives through effective research methods.
