NCS Offers to Partner NIMC on Database Harmonization

Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has expressed her readiness to work with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) on the harmonization of various ministries, departments and agencies (MDA) databases.

Prof. Sola Aderounmu, NCS’ president made the remark while on a courtesy visit to Engineer Aliyu Aziz, director general/chief executive officer of NIMC.

The visit was part of advocacy programme of Nigeria Computer Society, in seeking both private and public support for the indigenous IT development and adoption

In his opening address Prof. Aderounmu highlighted NCS’s readiness to work with NIMC in the areas of harmonization of database, research and development, local content and incubation and empowerment.

Aderounmu also reiterated the importance of NIMC participation in the coming NCS Conference taking place in Abuja in July 27th – 29th 2016.

The collaboration, he said, will enable NIMC to showcase and exhibit its products to over two thousand participants and by extension the entire world.

Aziz, DG NIMC, in his response expressed the willingness of the agency to collaborate and partner with NCS in many areas especially data harmonisation, local content issue, research and development.

He said this will enable them overcome the challenges of paying high licensing fee and franchising for foreign products.

According to Aziz, henceforth, NIMC will be inviting NCS to its Public procurement exercise as well as appointing NCS members to NIMC Board.
