Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has again demonstrated its commitment to excellence in Information Technology education innovation and scholarship fund as it presented winners of the 2014 National IT competitions and the winner of the NCS Scholarship for Education and Research with their prizes.
The grand finale of this year National Information Technology Whiz kids Competition (The NCS National IT Competition FOR Secondary Schools) was held at the just concluded National conference in Enugu, Enugu state between 23rd -25th 2014.
The Winners are, for First Prize, Iganmode Grammar School, Ota, Ogun State (Represented by Afolami Olowajuwon Yusuf and Bello Adewole Rotimi)
The Second Prize went to Mount Gabriel Secondary School, Makurdi, Benue State (Represented by Okwori Samuel and Kwaghaondo Kingsley)
While the Third Prize was received by the College of the Immaculate Conception, Enugu State (Represented by Ugwuoke Onyedikachi and Nwibe Tochukwu).
Another NCS National IT competition for Tertiary Institutions (Olatunji Odegbami IT competition) was also concluded during the conference 2014.
The followings were the winners, First Prize went to Ugwegbulam Chidiebere of Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri; Second Prize, Akinrotoye Ayomide of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and Third Prize went to Ekpenkong Ebenezer of Akwa Ibom State University, Uyo.
Participating students, schools and winners in the National IT competitions were recognized and won Computer products, cash prizes and consolation prizes.
NCS thanked the corporate sponsors of the competitions such as Data Sciences Nigeria Limited, Computer Professionals (Registration Council) of Nigeria, Mobile Knowledge Solutions Limited, Joint Komputer Kompany (JKK) Limited, Rivers State Government and Omatek Computers Limited.
Also, NCS made good its promise of promoting Research and Development in Information Technology by awarding scholarship to its deserving members.
At the just concluded National Conference in Enugu, a winner for 2013/2014 edition emerged, and a cheque of N500,000 was presented to him.
The lucky winner was Mr Aregbesola Kehinde Moses, a Ph.D Student at Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
He becomes the first recipient of the NCS Scholarship award.
According to Mr. Iyola Ayoola, director Corporate Communications at NCS, providers of the NCS Scholarship Fund are, Sir ‘Demola Aladekomo, Mr. Amos Emmanuel, Mr. Dave Inyere, Upperlink, Mr. Abimbola Olayinka, and all inductees.
He said that, “NCS thanks all participating schools, students, Education committee members and everyone involved in the planning and organization of all activities relating to the Scholarship and Competition awards.
“Special mention and great appreciation goes to all Sponsors who provided significant resources in support of this cause. May God reward them all for their kind generosity and contributions”.
