NCS Set to Confer Fellowship on Deserving Members
The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) said it is ready to confer fellowship on deserving members, while other awards are listed to celebrate achievers in the IT industry.
Professor David Adewumi, made the remark during a press conference in Lagos, adding that the awards under the National Information Technology Merit Award (NITMA) instituted by NCS are means of inspiring the awardees and propel growth in information technology in the country.
“We must learn to celebrate our own. We must learn to celebrate achievements and landmarks in our profession to inspire and propel growth in information technology. In this light, the most important and recognized award ceremony in the IT community, NITMA, will be held on December 13, 2013.
“Annually, through NITMA NCS recognizes and rewards excellence and tremendous contributions in the development and deployment of information technology in the country and the Diaspora,” the NCS president said.
He added that category of awards will be based on IT specialization, NCS standards and global best practices. Fellowship will also be conferred on deserving members.
Be conferring awards of excellence, Professor Adewumi added that, NCS highlights the importance of recognizing and celebrating individuals and organizations that have contributed tremendously towards the development and deployment of IT in Nigeria.
He said that the Society will continue to map out progammes that will draw attention of IT professionals that are yet to join the bandwagon.
