NCS to Induct Over 500 IT/ICT Professionals, 12 Corporate Members

In pursuance of the incumbent leadership’s agenda to grow the membership base, the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) is set to induct over 500 newly registered members at the 26th national conference that will hold from July 19th to 21st, 2016 at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.

Nigeria CommunicationsWeek gathered that within the last 12 months, NCS about twelve corporate entities have registered as new members of the Society.

Confirming the record increase in membership, Professor Sola Aderounmu, NCS’ president told Nigeria CommunicationsWeek that such drive was in line with the present National Executive Council (NEC) determination to assiduously work towards increased membership, increased membership due collection and open channels for willful donations and employment creation for the teaming Nigerian youths.

He said, NCS’ intensified advocacy campaigns are already yielding results with the Government ready to work with them to block non-professional from executing projects across the nation.

This, Professor Aderounmu said topped his agenda: to lead NCS to the path of more advocacy; research and development in IT and establishing physical presence for the Society.

He said that NCS is not relenting in pursuit of various programmes to engender IT penetration in rural areas and the use of indigenous software.

According to him, NCS will continue to make case for the establishment of Software Development Commission (SDC) as part of efforts to position the country as the IT hub in Africa and aid e-Governance approach through IT support systems.

Prof. Aderounmu added that capacity building among members is a sine qua non‎ in achieving the set goals, therefore, NCS will introduce computer based testing tools to assist organisations, the Government and even the general public.

NCS 26th National Conference
The NCS President said that he was optimistic that the present economic downturn in the country will not impact the conference adding that critical stakeholders are already itching for the sessions.

The NCS Conference is primed the largest annual gathering of Nigeria’s leading IT professionals and stakeholders comprising employers, investors, businesses, agencies, vendors, organizations, innovators, researchers, educators, thought leaders and consumers cutting across all sectors – all under one roof, at the same time.

Examining pertinent considerations through a multistakeholder forum in achieving IT enabled Security to advance and achieve Sustainable Development is the focus of the NCS 26th National Conference.
