Ndukwe Chairs Book Launch on ICT Reportage

Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, chairman, OpenMedia Group and one of Nigeria’s finest brains will chair the launch of the book  “A Decade of ICT Reportage in Nigeria, the award-winning series plus”,authored by Mr. Remmy Nweke, international multiple award-winning journalist and group executive editor, DigitalSENSE News.

Mrs. Nkemdilim Nweke, executive director, Operations, DigitalSENSE Africa Media Limited, the publishers of the book,  said that the book launch has been scheduled to hold on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Kofo Aboyomi, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The choice of Dr. Ndukwe to preside the book launch, she said, is very apt, considering the sterling  roles he played as the immediate past, chief executive officer, at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) within the period that the book covered extensively.

She also said that Dr. Ndukwe, who on leaving NCC joined the Lagos Business School as part-time faculty, where he heads the Centre for Infrastructure Policy, Regulation and Advancement (CIPRA), a new centre in the School dedicated to teaching, research and policy advocacy in infrastructure development. 

Dr Ndukwe, she said, is reputed to having wealth of experience and expertise in telecommunications in both private and public sectors; a professional telecommunications engineer, corporate executive and public servant with over 34 years of international experience in the telecommunications industry. 

Nweke, recalls that Dr. Ndukwe had served as the executive vice-chairman and chief executive officer, NCC between February 2000 to March 2010, noting that during his tenure, NCC recorded fabulous growth and transformation as one of the leading lights among Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Additionally, she said that NCC reputation soared in transparency and openness, especially due to the auction process that saw to the licensing of the Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication, which paved the way for the growth Nigeria has recorded in terms of Information and Communications Technology for Development (ICT4D) to name a few.
