Engr. Ernest Ndukwe, executive vice chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) recently in Lagos, received a special award from Vivante Media Group led by Professor Pat Utomi, for his unique contributions to national development.
The latest award, “Unique Innovator Award” came at an event which the Vivante Group tagged ‘Celebration of Nigerian Nation Builders,’ which held at the Expo Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, during which the group celebrated the 8th year of TV talk show, the Patito’s Gang and also launched a new magazine –Viva.
Many other eminent Nigerians - Yakubu Gowon, former head of state, Anthony Cardinal Okojie, Sa-ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Akintola Williams, Chief David Dafinone, Bamanga Tukur, Mike Adenuga, Cecilia Ibru, Tony Elumelu, Segun Odegbami, Mr. Sam Amuka–Pemu, Raymond Dokpesi, Ray Ekpu, Gani Fawehinmi, among other Nigerians were honoured in different categories.
Professor Bart Nnaji, Professor Dora Akunyili, Sunmi Smart-Cole, legendary photo journalist and Ali Baba, were all honoured in the same category as Ndukwe for their unique contributions to national development.
The organizers said the celebration of nation builders is a change of direction in the tradition of awards that usually focus on people who seek to hold political power as this was an honour for those found to be appropriate role models as nation builders in their chosen vocations.
“This path we have chosen is different from the tradition of awards, in that it basically says you are worthy of honour and you are held to be celebrated and emulated,” said Utomi.
