World’s leading computer training institution, New Horizons has reaffirmed that its resolve to help develop the human resource base of Nigeria to build a virile economy is the reason driving its focus in 2009. The vision of the centre, the management of New Horizons Nigeria has said, is to take computer training to a different level with the introduction of new training methodology and increase in its presence in the country.
The new methodology in teaching will be the adoption of highly organised system that emphasizes on the mental learning process even as the centre has revealed that ten new centres will be added to existing ones to ensure wider reach of their programmes to more Nigerians in the next twelve months.
Jamal Suboh, director, Middle East & Africa, New Horizons made the disclosures while on a visit to Nigeria. Suboh, who was visiting Nigeria for the first time was in the country to assess the impact of New Horizons’ ICT training in Nigeria and how to grow the institute.
He noted that there were huge potentials in Nigeria and stressed that the vision of New Horizons was to help in the training of human resource of the country to enable the country meet the challenges required building a virile economy.
Suboh revealed that the new teaching methodology will have the normal classroom format but that each learner/trainee will be taught simultaneously different courses. This concept which he said has been in use in America and Europe will provide each learner the access to two computer monitors through which he is taught
The first monitor is to allow him follow the teaching of the instructor while he practices what he has been taught with the second one.  The process also allows the trainee the opportunity of having a physical instructor who moves round to provide the necessary guides to the learner where needed.
The new concept is made easier by the new software being adopted by the institute which is said to make training very flexible and promises to provide both the trainee and sponsors the tools for better measurements of learning and achievements.
Nigeria is said to be the first place in Africa where the concept that is touted to make for greater competence of the trainees is being introduced.
Suboh further stated that goals of the institute in 2009 will be to improve on the infrastructure and staff training in line with the standard it has targeted to achieve even as he said the institute will invest enough capital to achieve this target.
Tim Akano, managing director / chief executive officer New Horizons Nigeria had earlier said that the target of the institute would be to harness the abundant human resource in the country through reach out programmes that would in turn galvanise the economy.
