Nigeria Internet Group (NIG), a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization promoting the Internet in Nigeria since 1995 is to host its annual conference and exhibition 2013 with focus on the development of broadband in Nigeria.
Engr. Adebayo Banjo, president of the group said that the event which hold Thursday May 30 to Friday May 31, has the theme “Broadband as a Tool in Nation Building”.
Special guests to grace the Annual Conference and Exhibition include: Mrs. Omobola Johnson, minister of Communication Technology; Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman, minister of National Planning; Mallam Lamido Sanusi Lamido, governor, Central Bank of Nigeria; and Lagos State Commissioner of Science and Technology as well as Engr. Olawale Ige, former minister of Communications, and also chairman of the NIG Board of Trustees will chair the occasion.
Other dignitaries includes Dr. Eugene Juwah, executive vice chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, and Prof. Cleopas Angaye, director general of the National Information Technology Development Agency (Nitda) will both be presenting the keynote address respectively.
NIG Board of Trustee members will also be among so many other dignitaries that will grace this all-important occasion.
At various ICT fora, different opinions and explanations have been given about the broadband technology and attempts to proffer solutions.
These and more are the issues that have ignited desire by the Nigeria Internet Group to organize this all-important conference which will offer more opportunity to examine and attempt to proffer solutions to issues as, critical success factors to the infrastructure provision in Nigeria, development or improved Broadband penetration, appropriate legal and regulatory framework and Political-will from Government to implement the right policies to achieve a resounding success among others.
It will be an interesting two day of interactive conference with experts from within and abroad the industry making presentations on the theme and the sub-themes.
The Nigeria Internet Group, also sees the Annual Conference and Exhibition 2013 as opportunity and also a platform for all ISP’s in Nigeria as a meeting point in one location for customers to see what is available across the board and to make an informed decisions.
It will also present an opportunity for a meeting of minds of Web Design Agencies showcasing their products and services as well as Domain Registrars for .ng displaying at the conference.
The Conference will also offer the opportunity for corporate bodies and organizations to showcase their products and service before a very quality audience that will tour the exhibition stands and make choices.
NIG Board of Trustee members will also be among so many other dignitaries that will grace this all-important occasion.
The Annual Conference and Exhibition will conclude with the Nigeria Internet Group Annual General meeting which will produce new Executive Committee that will stair the affairs of the Group for the next two (2) years.
Members are therefore encouraged to be part of the Annual General Meeting to elect candidate of their choice to run the affairs of the Group. New members are also welcome to join the Group.
