The Nigeria Computer Society (NSC) is holding a crucial workshop on information technology research and development.
Nigeria CommunicationsWeek had in its Vol. 6 No. 28 issue of August 19-25, 2013, reported exclusively that research and development in the Nigeria IT remain immature and would retain the outlook unless “aggressive” programmes are concerted the address the bottlenecks.
NSC on Friday, declared it readiness to host the workshop, first of its kind under the new leadership led by Professor David Adewumi, the new president of the Society.
Nigeria CommunicationsWeek learnt the 3-day workshop on IT R&D shall illuminate on issues like exposure to modern computer science/information technology research methodologies and tools; exposure to standard and internationally acceptable article preparation guide; grant seeking proposal writing techniques; support for postgraduate studies; information about grants, fellowships and scholarships; mentorship; information of research groups; research collaboration and exhibition of research outputs.
Participants at the programme which holding at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, OsunState between October 29 – 31, 2013 include lecturers in computer science/IT; postgraduate students in computer science/IT; IT consultants/researchers; departmental & units heads; academia; government/public and private sectors; IT industry players; business development executives/managers; brand image developers and IT consultants/researchers.
Adewumi while presenting his agenda for NSC under his leadership emphasized the need to focus on developing members along the trends in IT/ICT developments.
