This year has been a great year for women’s football as the FIFA World Cup has gained a lot of interest by football fans around the world. Where men’s football might take the lead when it comes to watching games on your TV or in your local pub and indulging in some sports betting, this year, the Women’s World Cup has really become very popular as the public gets behind their team.
This year’s competition is being held in France and is running from 7th June until 7th July 2019. There are 9 venues in total and many nations joining in on the football fun including Nigeria.
Nigeria’s Group
The Nigerian Women’s team were initially placed in Group A with teams that included France, Norway and South Korea. While they did not manage to top the group, they did manage to make it through to the next stage by gaining more points than South Korea.
So far, Nigeria have played three matches within their group, with one win amongst this. They lost two games but did manage to score two goals so far. This left them with 3 points in total in comparison to France who had 9, Norway who had 6 and South Korea who had 3. While they are not doing as well as some other teams, it is very promising so far.
Predictions
The Nigerian Women’s national team have done very well in their group so far but if we were to make a prediction based on past events, we would suggest that they might get knocked out in the next stage of the competition when they come up against Germany. However, if they do manage to win this match, they will move onto the next round and play against whoever wins between Sweden or Canada. Hopefully, they will make it and do Nigeria proud when their next matches come along.
