Nigeria Postal Service (Nipost) has begun automation of its Bulk Post Venture, as part of efforts to restore pride and enhance the integrity of its operations.
Bulk Post Venture is a service rendered to corporate oganisations with large volume of mail, such as annual general meeting (AGM) notices, dividend warrants, share/bonus certificates, bank statements, examination slips, religious correspondences, journals, catalogues.
Dr. Mike Umo, general manager, Bulk Post Venture, told Nigeria CommunicationsWeek that the process of automating selected functional basis of the venture was in line with the transformation agenda of the minister of communication technology and the postmaster general of Nipost to bring back the service to contemporary standards.
Umo disclosed that already, the head of information communication technology (ICT) at Nipost headquarters has deployed some technicians to the Venture to commence the process of automating its operations.
“At the conclusion of the whole thing, the process will benefit all and sundry, especially in keeping records,” he said.
According to Umo, the project deemed to commence the last quarter of the year is aimed at aiding the Service to keep proper records and statistics and would help the planning and budgeting procedures.
The automation of bulk mail processing, will involve the use of electronic mail franking machines, and fleets of vehicles for bulk mail clearing at beck and call services, and dedicated personnel to ensure that the interest and expectations of customers are met at all times.
