NIPOST Hosts 3rd Courier Summit

Preparations are in top gears for the 3rd Nigeria Courier Summit slated for October 28, in Lagos and hosted by the Courier Regulatory Department (CRD) of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).

Simon Emeje, senior assistant postmaster-general (SAPMG), who doubles as the head of Courier Regulatory Department (CRD), said that the summit  has the  theme as “Emergent Issues in Nigeria Courier Industry’

Emeje said the summit will provide a level playing ground and opportunities for all stakeholders to take fresh look at the courier industry in Nigeria, discuss issues with peers within the industry, meet with customers and friends of the industry, as well as meet with all stakeholders in the industry.  

Other opportunities include the cross-fertilisation of ideas with professional colleagues and the charting of new course to move the country’s courier sector forward.

Mr. Ben Murray Bruce, chairman, Silverbird Television expected guest speaker shall be speaking on “Legislations and Courier Entrepreneurship in Nigeria”.

The first and second edition held in 2001 and 2004 respectively. Meanwhile, Senator David Mark, Senate president would be a special guest of honour, Mrs. Omobola Johnson, minister of Communication Technology will chair the Summit, while Mallam Abubakar Musa Argungu, postmaster-general and chief executive of NIPOST, would be the chief host.

Gilbert Emeka Nnaji, chairman Senate Committee on Communication, Ojo Oyetunde, chairman, House Committee on Communication and Mr. Osita Chidoka, Corps Marshall and chief executive officer, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) are expected to grace the occasion.

Ambassador Jerry Sunny Ugokwe, Mrs. Dabeny Shall-Holma, director Shippers’ Council and Mr. Okey Uba, managing director, Ebony Express would serve as the rapporteurs, among other guests.
