NIPOST Partner NIGCOMSAT, Others on Financial Inclusion

Nigerian Post Office (NIPOST) has entered into collaborations with Nigeria Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT), One Network and First Bank of Nigeria to launch projects aimed at promoting financial inclusion in the country.

According to Mallam Ibrahim Mori Baba, Postmaster General, “we are re-inventing NIPOST through collaborations with different stakeholders from the public and private sectors. The two projects we are launching today are products of such collaborations. The first one, “Promoting Financial Inclusion and Opportunities through KA-BAND Utilization” is a partnership with our sister parastatal, NIGCOMSAT and One Network”.

He said: “One Network Agent Management Limited is meant to empower NIPOST with connectivity in order to extend financial and digital services and access to rural and underserved areas. 

One Network is collaborating with NIPOST in broadening and deepening financial services to the citizens, especially in underserved areas”.

The second project is ‘the Firstmonie Mobile payment scheme, owned by First Bank, which marks the extension of the firstmonie scheme to the post office counters.

This means that customers of Firstmonie can now have access to transactions at post office.

With this project, NIGCOMSAT is providing connectivity to rural post offices, which will enable NIPOST to extend its electronic money order service, called Postcash to the rural areas.

NIPOST will also leverage on this project to key into Transformation Agenda of the present administration by providing complete digital and financial inclusion to the populace.
