Nigeria Postal Services (NIPOST) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) may soon sign a deal that will see NIPOST delivering documents to schools and candidates’ certificates to their home addresses across the country.

Mr. Patrick Ehidiamen Areghan, head of National Office, WAEC, disclosed in Abuja on Friday when he visited Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, postmaster general of the Federation/CEO NIPOST.

According to Areghan, the purpose of the visit was to seek collaboration with NIPOST in the area of logistics such as using NIPOST’s locked up vans to deliver WAEC’s documents and candidates’ certificates.

The yet-to-be-seal deal will also see NIPOST delivering WAEC’s certificates to Nigerians in their home or office addresses.

This, according to the WAEC chief, would afford candidates who sat for examinations in the past but have not collected their certificates opportunities to easily apply for their certificates and get them with ease wherever they reside with the aid of NIPOST delivery services.

He particularly laid emphasis on collaborating with NIPOST in Cross River State where he said WAEC office was recently burnt by hoodlums protesting during the #EndSARS mayhem in Calabar.

In his response, the Postmaster General of the Federation/CEO NIPOST commended WAEC for what he called its laudable achievements.

The NIPOST boss further emphasized the imperative of NIPOST’s support to the education of the Nigerian child.

To achieve this synergy, a six-man ad-hoc committee was set up to work out details of the deal.
