NiRA Moves .ng Crusade to Jobberman, Crashes Rate to N500

In continuation of "adopt the .ng crusade", Sunday Folayan, president of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) recently led his team to a strategic meeting with One Africa Media, the operators of Africa’s largest portfolio of online marketplaces, focusing on Jobs, Cars, Property and Travel.

Similarly, the rate for domain name registration has gone down to as low as N500, NiRA reaffirmed on Thursday.

Speaking on the visit, Folayan said that One Africa Media is a strategic partner for promoting the .ng brand, online business, wealth creation and youth employment across the country.

While both ‘Cheki.com.ng and ‘privateproperty.com.ng’ are .ng compliant. NIRA were assured that job search marketplace, Jobberman would soon be .ng compliant as internal discussions had already commenced before the visit.

“Other issues of importance to NIRA, apart from Jobberman using their .ng domain name, is the adoption of the.name.ng domain string as the online identity of Nigerian's, with the aim of fostering relationships between the jobseekers and the employers. Last but not the least, is the issue of capacity building and development of applications by Nigerians that can be used in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.

.ngNOG Workshop
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Network Operators’ Group (.ngNOG) workshop is scheduled to hold at Abuja from 1st to 4th November 2016.

Speaking on the workshop, Folayan said, “The Nigerian Network Operators’ Group (ngNOG) is the largest capacity building activity of ICT personnel and other stakeholders in Nigerian Higher Education and Industry. there will be a track on the “Domain Name Business”.  It will help participants understand the business side of the Internet, and acquaint participants with the basic tools of conducting businesses online.
