Mr. Peter Jack, director-deneral of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has moved to establish new collaborative approach to ensure an improved national InfoTech-driven system in Nigeria.
Leading top management staff of the agency on a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Communication Satellite (NigComSat) in Abuja, he said the “partnership is also aimed at fostering inter-agency synergy and cooperation with NigComSat in order to achieve the much-desired proficiency, particularly in the public sector.”
“The Information and Communication industry is a major catalyst for economic development, and so we must engage it as a platform to enhance efficiency and productivity in other sectors of the Nigerian economy,” he said.
He said the partnership becomes more significant in view of the enormous bandwidth from the Nigerian Communications Satellite which has the country’s dedicated communications satellite in space.
The two agencies agreed to work together, by calling for a far-reaching transformation of Nigeria on the socio-economic and technological landscape while urging the government to formulate economic and technological policies, directed at the development of local capacities.
