Mr. Peter Jack, director general of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) said that the Agency will soon embark on IT intervention in the Katsina State.

The NITDA boss said the intervention is as a result of his realisation that the people of Katsina are ready for the IT intervention.

The DG made this assertion when the Vice chancellor of Al- Qalam University Katsina Prof. Shehu G. Ado and his team paid a courtesy visit to NITDA Headquarter in Abuja.

Jack informed the University about the agency scholarship scheme for Masters program and PhD, which a member of the VC’s team said he is a beneficiary of NITDA’s master and PhD scholarship programs.

The DG also asked the VC to engage in setting problems for final year students; according to him the solutions to the problems can become marketable.

The final year students can be grouped into teams and the best team wins a price.

Mr. Jack promised to write to the University on capacity building, once the Agency embarks on training.

The vice chancellor stated that the University seek to partner and request the assistance of NITDA in providing the University with Equipment for Standard Laboratories for virtual learning and simulations and Network Upgrade to campus-wide intranet.

The Prof said the University was licensed to operate by National University Commission (NUC) in June 2005 as Katsina University with the aim of assisting the region in particular and the Nation at large.

He said this was aimed at bridging the large gap of the status of educationally disadvantaged in far Northern states especially north-west region where the university is located,

According to Prof Shehu the University started with just four programmes which computer science was among up to 2013 when eighteen programmes were added.

He said of the total of over four thousand (4,000) students cutting across all programmes, the students in computer science out weight all the other courses.

The Biggest Cost of Nigeria’s Crypto Stamp Duty Not 1.5%, But What Happens Next

By Chike Onwuegbuchi17 Aug 2026

There is a strange thing about regulation: everybody wants clarity until clarity comes with a bill. Given that is probably why the conversation around Nigeria’s proposed 1.5% stamp duty on virtual asset transactions has quickly become a debate about the number. Is 1.5% too much? Will it make crypto more expensive? Will users simply move elsewhere?
