NOA Commissions Community Radio Station, 27 Field Vehicles

National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reaffirmed its resolve to put in place strategies that will transform the orientation of Nigerians towards the realization of a better country.

Mr. Mike Omeri, NOA director general, said this at the celebration to mark his one year in office, disclosed that his “new vision for the Agency in line with its mandate has been to transform the Agency along with its component units into a proactive, knowledge based and activity driven organization, able to rise up to evolving challenges in our national space”.

The Agency reaffirmed the commitment to sustain the achievements recoded so far and highlighted some of the achievements of the Agency under the leadership of Mr. Omeri;  the launch of the “Do the Right Thing: Transform Nigeria” national charge which has served as the general guiding philosophy of the Agency and all Nigerians both at home and abroad; development of the Community Peace Dialogue initiative which brings together stakeholders in various communities to dialogue and agree on the imperative of maintaining peace within their communities; and the establishment of a community radio station ’97.7 MHz’ for the NOA.

Other projects include improved infrastructure for NOA Staff; acquisition of new buses for the Agency; acquired projectors for Local Government offices to aid in grassroots sensitization; development of new State Directorate complexes in Osun and Nasarawa State; trained and retained Information, Social Justice and Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers across the country.

As part of the celebration to mark Mr. Omeri’s first year in office, Senator David Mark, Senate President of Nigeria, is expected to commission 27 brand new pick-up SUV vehicles which were acquired to aid the mobility of State Directorates in addition to the launch of a photo book titled ‘Transformational Strides 2012’.

The Agency will also embark on a nationwide road show to launch the new ‘Do the Right Thing: Keep to Time’ campaign which seeks to reawaken the consciousness of Nigerians to the fact that the original concept of “African Time” was actually about being very early for appointments and not about lateness.
