Nokia-Alcatel has formerly regularised its operations in Nigeria and has reopened the sealed office by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
NCC closed down the offices of Nokia-Alcatel for operating in the country without the necessary permit.
NCC spokesman Tony Ojobo said that the mobile telecoms equipment manufacturer had failed to obtain the N2 million ($6,349) licence required for the sale and installation of network equipment.
However, Mr. Richard Edet, country managing director of Nokia Systems told Nigeria CommunicationsWeek that the company was already in talks with the NCC to secure the licence and before the shut down.
“Our offices were opened almost immediately. We are a responsible company. Before the closure, we were already in the process of regularising our operations in Nigeria.
“The NCC has been very corporative with us and we are working together to ensure there is no repeat of such in future. So, it is sorted,” Edet told Nigeria CommunicationsWeek.
