Xpressmusic Playlist Top 5, a new music competition from Nokia is set to increase the appetite for music in the country as it has the potential to connect with music lovers and youths in a very special way. The unique Nokia Xpressmusic Playlist Top 5, unique in many ways, is an exciting music competition that allows for universal participation in a field where only the exceptionally talented would participate.
The Nokia Xpressmusic Playlist Top 5 challenge (Powered by Nokia 5800) which will be partnering with Nigerian and international artistes will be driven by Andre (Blaze) Henshaw, an Iconic music personality. Henshaw will encourage the youths, adults who are young at heart, and other music lovers to share their favorite Playlists to win. It will create an exciting platform to “Play, touch and share” great music experiences. Nokia has also partnered with top Nigerian artistes to reward Xpressmusic consumers with pre-loaded music content and other amazing top of the range prizes.
Beatrice Olumhense, marketing manager Nokia Nigeria, while speaking at the Nokia Xpressmusic press briefing in Lagos last week, stated that the new Nokia Xpressmusic Playlist Top 5 competition is totally a new experience in music and entertainment in Nigeria. The entry mechanics are simple. All entries will be made online via nokiaconnected.com. The two challenge categories of entry are the 1 in 5 challenge and the 5 in 5 challenge (playlist master). In the first category, the player will enter 5 song titles and artistes names in any one genre. To qualify for the playlist master challenge, the player will enter 5 song titles and artists name. The 5 classes of entry are strictly Naija, dancehall, techno, club mixes and head bangers/rock. The top 10 finalists will create two 10mins edit of their playlist in designated studios and uploaded on the special Nokia connected website and played on Nokia Rave Parties in Abuja, Port Harcourt and Lagos.
The Nokia Rave parties, the first of its kind in Nigeria will be held in specially created playlist marquees/non conventional tents. They will have a rave ambience with graffiti boards at the entrance, multiple D.J groove spots to increase interactivity, strobe lights, demo phones and engaging branding.
The judges for the competition will include a top celebrity D.J, a sound city DJ & recording artiste; Nokia Playlist Icon and a top Nigerian artiste.
At the retail level, buyers of the wave making Nokia 5800 will get a free Nokia flash drive pre-loaded with 12 notable tracks from four top Nigerian artistes. More prizes are also on offer for the new Nokia 5130 and 5220.
At the media entertainment roundtable where the new Nokia 5130 was also unveiled, Nokia’s Beatrice Olumhense restated Nokia’s unflinching commitment to connecting with people. “And Nigerians are indeed a very special people to connect with”.
