NSN Restrategises Nigeria Operations, Opens New Office

Nokia Solutions and Networks has announced the inauguration of a new office in Lagos, the commercial hub of West Africa, to expand its operations in the country. The company has also renovated its existing office in the capital city, Abuja.

Nigeria is a priority country in the Africa region for NSN, and these modern offices aim to enhance the company’s operational agility for delivery of its mobile broadband infrastructure for all operators in the country.

The opening of this office in Nigeria further strengthens NSN’s presence in Africa and reiterates the company’s commitment to help operators in the Middle East and Africa region
build world-class mobile broadband infrastructure.

The office was inaugurated by Igor Leprince, senior vice president of Middle East & Africa region, Salvatore Maisano, Head of Central East & West Africa and Sam Nwosu, Country Director for Nigeria, NSN, in the presence of Dr. Okechukwu Itanyi, Executive Commissioner, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC); Johnson Salako, CEO, MobiTel; Olu Raheem, Head of Trade Center, Finland Trade Center, West Africa; and representatives from Nigeria telecom operators including Etisalat, Airtel and Intercellular.

Igor Leprince said at the event that: “NSN is committed to further strengthening its focus on Nigeria and helping telecom operators build a reliable, superior mobile broadband network across the country including mid-size cities and rural areas. With two modern offices and expanded operations in the country, we are ready to deliver large-scale mobile broadband rollouts in Nigeria. As the world’s specialist in mobile broadband as well as with the expertise and experience gained from the most advanced telecom markets such as Japan and Korea, NSN will help operators in Nigeria become advanced mobile broadband providers on par with the world’s leading telecom services providers.”

On his part, Dr. Okechukwu Itanyi  said “the opening of the new office by NSN in our country will be a benefit in terms of strengthening Nigeria’s mobile broadband infrastructure and economy. Our telecom market is fast growing with subscribers increasingly adopting smart devices and demanding high quality voice and data services.”

Itanyi added that, “NSN’s advanced products and services, and strengthened quality of delivery will help operators ensure better broadband access to a large part of the country’s population for better education and development. In addition, it enhances the position of Nigeria as a technology hub, while improving knowledge transfer toward our country.”

NSN is also committed to training Nigerian telecom engineers to become mobile broadband practitioners, helping create more employment opportunities.
