Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has come hard on President Muhammadu Buhari for lamenting over mess created by previous administrations, saying he was elected to clean the mess.
For one year and seven months that President Buhari has been in power, ex-President Obasanjo remained one of his staunchest backers, visiting him from time to time on state matters.
But it seems even Obasanjo is getting tired of the way things are going in Nigeria these days, especially with the poor state of the economy.
Delivering the keynote at the First Akintola Williams Annual Lecture, Obasanjo lashed at the Buhari administration for repeatedly lumping the country’s three previous administrations together and then accusing them of misgovernance.
President Buhari have at every opportunity blamed the previous administrations for the current bad economic situation in the country.
But Obasanjo said that “Now that we have had change because the actors and the situation needed to be changed, let us move forward to have progress through a comprehensive economic policy and programme that is intellectually, strategically and philosophically based,” Obasanjo said.
The former president also criticised plans by Buhari to take about $30billion loan to fix critical administration.
