Dr Boniface Aniebonam, chairman and chief executive officer of Ocean Star, has expressed his company’s readiness to offer its customer efficient service delivery.
The company which stands out as one of the oldest shipping and freight forwarding companies in Nigeria, was licensed by the Nigerian Customs service in 1995 to provide services in the area of shipping, warehousing, logistics, consultancy and export.
As a credible shipping and freight forwarding company, it has since inception continued to employ very competent freight forwarders. Also, Ocean star shipping is outstanding because unlike most freight forwarding companies, it has people trained on Information Technology ( IT ), Shipping, Logistics, Transport and Export procedures.
The company, is reputed for the establishment of Maritime Academy, established as an affiliate of the company, which is called National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders ( Nagaff ) Maritime Academy.
In a chat with Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, said the school, Nagaff Maritime Academy, offers courses such as shipping, logistics, maritime law, and international transport.
Dr Aniebonam, said the school was established to offer qualitative education to freight forwarders and disclosed that the school since 2003, has been graduating students on a yearly basis.
He said: “the school teaches people the technicalities and logistics of freight forwarding, with lecturers from well known Universities in Nigeria and a crop of highly committed and dedicated intellectuals, who are well vast in maritime operations. For me, competition is not a threat to Ocean star shipping. It is not boasting, let any of our competitors come out for a service contest and lets see why we cannot beat such one in terms of service delivery”.
He further explained that the company is doing wonderfully well in the area of logistics and has over the years expanded their operations to Port Harcourt, Calabar, and Kano.
Dr Aniebonam, said that the company has grown tremendously in the past 14 years, even at the risk of reducing its margin but mindful of retaining its position in the industry through the provision of quality services to its clients locally and internationally.
He also said that the company in terms of security of goods and services has an in-house security arrangement, such that whatever consignment that is delivered through Ocean star will be 100 per cent safe.
“In this company, we know very well that anything that happens to a client’s consignment before delivery, is at our own risk, and we cannot afford to risk our names or our services. Also we believe that when we serve you better, you will go ahead to tell other people that our company is good”, he added. \
