Ogun Deputy Governor Commends Unilever

 Alhaja Salmotu Badru ,Ogun State deputy governor has commended Unilever Nigeria Plc for its Corporate Social Responsibility drive. She made the statement during the launch of the company’s Sunlight 2-in-1 Detergent and the unveiling of a solar-powered ultra-modern bore-hole and wash bay facility provided by Unilever Nigeria Plc for the Agbara community, in Ogun State.

  Commenting on the company’s giant stride, the deputy governor, who was the special guest of honour at the twin event, explained that Unilever has positively touched and impacted the lives so many individuals and families by the gesture.

  “Interventions like this by corporate organizations complement the efforts of the government in making life abundant for our people. Therefore, we must specially congratulate and commend Unilever Nigeria Plc for always seeking to contribute to the development of our great nation, starting at the grassroots level,” she said.

Badru said that by proving water, Unilever Nigeria Plc has brought life to the people of Agbara community, since water is essential to life.

  The unveiling of the ultra-modern borehole drew cheers from the large crowd that turned out to witness the event.

  In his welcome address, Oba Ayinla Agunbiekun , the Alagbara of Agbara,  expressed appreciation to the company  on behalf of the community for its kind gesture. “Provision of potable water will, as a matter of fact, help to eradicate water borne diseases, while citing the detergent factory in our community has reduced unemployment among the teeming youths. Therefore, I must commend Unilever,” he said.

  Speaking on the rationale for the community project,  Dominic Kimani , marketing director, Unilever Nigeria Plc explained that adding vitality to lives as well as making meaningful impact in the lives of people has become the corporate philosophy of the organisation. This, he said, informed the decision to provide the ultra-modern borehole and wash bay for Agbara community.

  His words: “For us in Unilever, we don’t just say we add vitality to life of the people in our society, we back it up with actions, the manifestation of what you have just seen today. Unilever Nig Plc, as a corporate organisation, has taken upon itself a responsibility to partner with government in providing amenities that will make life easy for the people in our communities.”

  The new Sunlight 2-in-1 detergent powder has two major attributes: it cleans and freshens, while it generally leaves consumers happy. Sunlight is positioned to give consumers a cleaner wash while making their clothing smell fresh so as to enable consumers get value for money.
