OLX Changed My Perception about Dog- Ajibade

With the rise of different e-commerce startups opening shop in Nigeria the popularity of online shopping among Nigerians has given rise to the economy with it being valued to N78bn as at 2012.

These online stores in Nigeria, according to a recent survey, record over $2 million worth of transactions per week, approximately N1.3 billion per month, and take up to 500 business orders per day.

And among such online stores is OLX, the leading classifieds site globally and in Nigeria.

An interesting platform for buyers to meet sellers to trade.

During a recent interview with Oluwatosin Ajibade, the founder of the popular lifestyle and entertainment website Olorisupergal.com, she spoke on her love for online shopping and how OLX made her a dog lover.

Well, before i bought my first dog i used to be scared of dogs. I decided i was going to conquer my fear and went shopping for a puppy. After i got my puppy, i really became fond of dogs and now i own 3 dogs.

Encounter with OLX & Passion for Online Dog Shopping
Well, prior to my shopping for a dog, I had always heard of OLX and never used the platform and since OLX was top of mind i decided to visit the site and check out their listings. I must admit, there were a lot of dogs to choose from and luckily for me the one dog i picked and fell in love with was the dog i bought.

Prompt to Look for a Dog Online Usual Clothing, Shoes, etc?
To be honest, when it comes to shopping for clothes and shoes, i prefer going to the store to buy those items because I get to try them on and make sure they fit. Although, i know OLX has a wide variety for clothes and shoes, i would rather opt to get my dog from there.

The experience
It was very easy. The first thing I did was to download the app and after doing that I searched for a dog seller on the site, and different dog seller's name came up. It took me some days to decide on which seller I should go with. The type of dog I wanted was on the site too. Tope from Top Dogz name was on the list and I made contacts with them to purchase the dog. Looking for a dog online didn't sound weird to me because you can find anything online on OLX

Reports have it that you and the previous owner of your first dog are good friends. Could you give an insight on this?
Yes we are actually very good friends, after i bought the dog from him, we kept in touch with each other. For him, it was to know about the welfare of the dog and how he's doing. And for me, to ask him general dog related questions and advice as this was my first time being a dog owner.

Have you sold anything on an online platform? What was the experience like?
No, not yet, but i know i will be doing that very soon.

Figures from statisticians indicate that Nigerians are still skeptical about using OLX. What is your take on this being that you shop regularly on the platform?
With everything new people are and will always be skeptical about changing their behaviours. Even till today, people are skeptical using the ATM machines.
My advise for other people that have not used the platform is that they should just use common sense when making their transactions online. Meet at a public place; ‎never ever pay before you see the item and even after you see the item inspect the item very well to make sure you and most of all take your time to select the item you want to buy.
