OY-ITC AND NTA Partners AFROAGRICEXPO LLC to Host Non-Oil Exports Show and Exhibition in Houston
The Organization of Youth in International Trade and Commerce (OY-ITC) and Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) – Television Enterprises (TVE), the Federation of Agricultural Commodities Association of Nigeria (FACAN), BuyNaija Project Initiative, Committee of Youths on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS), and the AFROAGRICEXPO LLC Houston Texas, USA; have come together in a partnership designed to boost non-oil exports trade in Nigeria.
Moved by the need to hasten the pace of Nigeria’s development, these corporate patriots and the American based company have catalyzed a platform that equips Nigerian youths for the processes required to succeed in international trade and commerce. Led by the OY-ITC, the group harnesses the creativity, competence and productivity of youths and women in Nigeria, showcases and shares same to the global community through trade missions – the first being the Houston ’22 Trade Show and Exhibitions slated for the 25th – 30th July, 2022.
Houston ’22 to be held at the prestigious Expo Event Center, Houston, Texas, USA, will promote and secure patronage for Made in Nigeria goods and services while triggering foreign direct investment.
These facts were revealed by Chinedu Amadi, President, OY-ITC while previewing Houston ’22 with journalists.
Mr. Amadi expressed satisfaction at the level of awareness and commitment that the OY-ITC’s initiative is enjoying across Nigeria.
He recalled the enthusiasm that welcomed the Stake Holder’s meetings in some of Nigeria’s industrial cities – Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Aba and Yenagoa.
These meetings revealed the deep seated desire for export trade and the lack of logistics that compromise ventures. The OY-ITC President observed that the pre-Houston ‘22 exhibitions by manufacturers and vendors, to a large extent, met international standards.
He commended the quality of packaging and display, and expressed confidence that Nigerian products will be gladly patronized in Houston. Consumers in Houston, Texas will be satisfied by the original quality and competitive pricing of Nigerian products.
Houston ’22 would not just be a buy and sell scenario. Mr. Amadi opined that the roundtable discussions would be robust and rewarding. Participants will be amazed at how manufacturers handle the total lack of electricity in Nigeria.
There are other challenges including the ease of doing business and policy somersaults that would be quite instructive to investors willing to come to Nigeria. The OY-ITC lesson to the world from the Houston ’22 outing would be that tough business environments give rise to higher levels of creativity and innovation.
Mr. Amadi also added that participants from Nigeria would find the Houston ’22 experience very rewarding. The scenery from the tours, the interactive sessions and seminars, and the quality of the contacts made will all add up to a memory that would forever be useful.
One great value of Houston ’22, Chinedu Amadi further noted is that it will enable the OY-ITC initiative to spread and be adopted across Africa. The OY-ITC is already reaching out to stake holders in some African countries to take advantage of its vision and solve Africa’s perennial problem of consumption of imported goods without exports.
Mr. Amadi urged Nigerians manufacturers and vendors to avoid the last minute rush and register for Houston ’22 now.
Earlier, in preparation for the trade show and to further promote the partnership between the NTA-TVE and OY-ITC, a courtesy visit was paid to the DG of NTA, Yakubu IBN Muhammed, in which he highlighted the importance of the trade show.
Mr. Yakubu IBN Muhammed stressed that Nigeria has the competences and products to make Nigeria a great nation. The OY-ITC president later during the visit presented the NTA DG with an award of Excellence “ICON AWARD” as a champion in non-oil export trade promotions.
