Gov. Adebayo Alao-Akala, of Oyo State has said that his administration will continue to provide the enabling environment that will make civil servants more efficient and effective. He spoke in Ibadan at the launch of Computer For-All-Nigerians Initiative (CANi).

The governor said that his administration would provide Internet facilities at the secretariat for its civil servants. He disclosed that the Executive Council had approved that the government would bear 50 per cent of the cost of buying computers for the first 250 applicants under the CANi scheme.

"It is, therefore, hoped that the beneficiaries of this programme would make good use of these computers and make them to impact positively in the conduct of government business," he said.

Alao-Akala promised that his administration would continue to remain committed to the welfare of civil servants, to motivate them for better performance in order to restore the past glory of the service.

He assured them that he would continue to emphasize training and re-training of the workforce through local and overseas training programmes.

"By now, about 400 senior officers on GLs 08 and above are undergoing training on personnel effectiveness, work ethics and attitudinal changes for improved productivity," Alao-Akala said.

The governor urged civil servants in the state to cultivate the virtues of hard work, dedication and loyalty so that government would know that all its efforts had not been in vain.
