Experts have asked computer users to be wary of new Trojan viruses, Sinowal Trojan which infect and destroy online bank accounts and another, a Facebook virus which is attacking the network’s users.
Nigerian CommunicationsWeek gathered that the Sinowal Trojan have infected and destroyed more than 500 000 online bank accounts and affected several thousands credit cards in Nigeria, South Africa and some countries in the developed world.
The globe-trotting virus has been scooping up bank login details and there appear to be no solutions in sight.
The Trojan virus is described as one of the most sophisticated “crime syndicates” to emerge in the 21st century.
Fraud Action Research Lab of South Africa which first detected the Windows Sinowal Trojan in February 2006 said that since then more than 270,000 banking accounts and 240,000 credit and debit cards have been compromised from financial institutions in many countries.
Elsewhere, Facebook users are under attack from a virus sweeping through the online social network.
This trojan comes just months after Facebook said it was working to protect its user from phishing scams.
For the laymen: If you receive a Facebook message (or a Facebook message alert in your email) with a questionable subject lines like: Maan, yyou’re great!” “your ass looks not bad in this video”, “Some0ne thinks your special and has a *Hot_Crush* on you. Find out who it could be*” or ‘”i can see yooooooooo”.  DO NOT CLICK THE LINK IN THE BODY!
Computer security experts are working round the clock to destroy the viruses which are threatening Internet banking, Internet researches, social network sites and email communications.
