Information System Academy of Pan Atlantic University in collaboration with SofreCom is organizing quality of service and continuous improvement skills programme for telecom managers in Nigeria.
Dr. Pius Onobhayedo, coordinator of the programme, explained that complains about poor telecoms service quality is commonplace in the country, and that such quality challenges may not be unconnected with the inadequacy of quality of service management, continuous improvement strategy and governance among others.
According to him, “with the understanding that good will is insufficient, we have organized a series of training in partnership with an organization of global repute, Sofrecom of France to impact the requisite skills required to meet global quality standards in telecoms and related service delivery.
He said that the relevance of this training to quality of service challenge in the telecommunications industry rest on fact that consumers need to be better served and the telecoms companies need to remain competitive.
“Besides the need to raise the basic telephony standards, the need to address QoS management is even more pressing as the telecoms companies delve into new frontiers in data-driven value added services”.
Onobhayedo added that they have programs lined up for various levels of management in the telecoms industry including executive management, middle management and line management.
“Programs have also been designed for various types of telecoms management functions, such as programs, quality, process, product, project, among others. Special attention will be paid to Network groups within the telecoms industry.
More so, this is not a one off program. We have established a hierarchy of programs that will take various categories of managers to the highest levels of expertise required for top quality delivery. Industry regulators will also benefit from some of the programs,’ he said.
He noted that the training programs will be facilitated by experts from Sofrecom.
Sofrecom, an Orange subsidiary, has developed over 47 years a unique know-how about operator businesses, making it a world leading specialist in telecommunications consultancy and engineering.
