PDM Begins Online Membership Drive
Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), newly registered political party has commenced online membership registration of its members world wide, preparatory to the forthcoming 2015 general elections.
Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim, national chairman of the party, while launching the online registration said the party has recorded yet another milestone that has never been done in the country. He noted that before now, membership of a political party in Nigeria is a privilege, people were denied the right to joint political parties of their choice.
According to him, with the new system of online registration, the difficulties being experienced in registering a member would be a thing of a past.
The PDM boss added that over 46million Nigerians now have access to the Internet devices, and can register within five minutes any where they are without any difficulties.
“With online registration, every voting age Nigerian, anywhere you are in the world, you can access and register his or her membership with the party as long as you have access to the Internet. You don’t need to travel to your village to register, and no one can stop you from being a member of PDM”.
He stressed that the online registration is optional and would go side by side with the manual registration that is expected to commence later this year. “We are going to take our membership registration to every nook and cranny of this country until we are sure that every eligible vote who wishes to joint PDM is registered”, he said.
