Phase3 Telecom, a transmission services provider is among firms supporting the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization’s (CTO) 2013 Forum which opened in Abuja on Monday.
The forum is the constitutionally mandated ‘flagship’ event of the CTO which takes place every year. This year’s event will offer regional and international solutions for those in Commonwealth regions sharing knowledge, lessons learnt and key information about technological advances across the Commonwealth and beyond.
Mr. Stanley Jegede, chief executive officer, Phase3 Telecom, said that along with providing free broadband internet access to delegates at the forum; the firm will also provide the services to effectively stream the event LIVE. By this, he noted, anyone can watch the event online as the proceedings of the plenary sessions and other streamable segments of the forum unfold in real time.
This arrangement, according to him, confirms Phase3’s commitment to its brand promise of ensuring ease in user experience on its open access network.
Jegede added that the decision to support the commonwealth forum is consistent with the company’s vision to promote the growth of the telecommunications industry in Nigeria and the West African region.
He stated that since Nigeria is privileged to be hosting the commonwealth event, there is need for everyone to give the needed support to the event in the right way.
“Phase3 has been at the forefront of enabling telecommunications development in Nigeria and that is what we are doing again at CTO. We realize that the security challenges facing our environment mean that the use of certain devices in public places is often subjected to security checks.
“Our free service is targeted at saving delegates attending CTO 2013 Forum the problem of carrying extra devices to get access by providing broadband internet free-of-charge to all persons that will attend the event,” he said.
With the theme “Innovation through Broadband”, Jegede also maintained that the event sits well with the services of Phase3 Telecom as a leading promoter of broadband services in Nigeria.
