Phase3 Telecoms Canvasses ICT Skills for Women

The improvement of technical skills of young women and girls has been identified as an important element that will further enhance growth of several aspects of the technology industry, according to to Mr. Stanley Jegede, chief executive officer, Phase3 Telecom.

He said the need for basic technical skills and deep digital literacy currently extends to every single role in every industry being influenced by technology.

Jegede added that encouraging girls to pursue technology-based careers will see the rise in digital business and rapid growth in the development of fields such as coding (programming languages), computing, and telecommunications in Nigeria.

This, he noted, had informed the firm’s support for the TECH4D forum 2014 slated for Lagos.

Jegede maintained that the chances for ICT advancement in Nigeria should be open to everybody interested such that they have “an equal chance to compete within the framework of goals and the structure of rules established in the IT and Telecommunications industry.”
