Police, Lekki Residents Commend Airtel’s CSR

Lagos State Police Command and residents of Lekki Scheme 1, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, have commended Airtel Nigeria, for supporting governmental institutions towards the development of the Nigerian society.
 
Specifically, they applauded Airtel for donating a renovated ultra-modern Police Post, 20KVA Generator and Brand New Patrol Truck to aid effective policing in the Lekki axis of Lagos State.
 
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony of the Lekki Police Post, recently, in Lagos, Mr. Umar Abubakar Manko, Lagos State commissioner of Police, lauded Airtel Nigeria for its support to the Lagos Police Command, assuring that the renovated police post, brand new patrol truck and 20 KVA generator will be used optimally.
 
Manko who was represented by Felix G. Ogundeji, deputy commissioner of Police, Administration, said: “I commend Airtel for this fine gesture and I want to assure you that the Police Post Facility and other items donated will be put to good use,” he said.
 
Also speaking at the occasion, Mr. Wole Akala, chairman, Lekki Residents Association, , thanked Airtel for extending its Corporate Social Responsibility programme to Lekki residents.

“On behalf of the 70,000 permanent residents of Lekki Phase 1, I appreciate the kind gesture of foremost telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria,” he said.
 
In his response, Segun Ogunsanya, managing director and chief executive officer, Airtel Nigeria, said Airtel was passionate about providing opportunities for societal development and the donation was in keeping with the company’s tradition of impacting positively the communities where it operates its business.
 
Ogunsanya said, “As a telecommunications company, we play a key role in building and sustaining relationships. We connect people to their loved ones and we make business deals happen. We also know that people can only share love and close business deals in a secure and orderly environment.”

The CEO also reiterated the company’s commitment to strengthening the partnership with the Nigerian Police Force.

According to him, Airtel Nigeria “is currently working on some projects with the Nigerian Police. And since policing is an on-going concern, we will continue to partner with the Nigerian Police to protect lives and property in Lagos and the entire country.”
 
Ogunsanya also spoke on the commitment of the network to providing Nigerians best telecoms experience with innovative value offerings and products at pocket-friendly tariffs as has been characteristic of the company since it entered the Nigerian telecoms industry three years ago.
