Polytechnic Mulls App Development Centre
Dr. Isaiah Oyeyinka, Rector, Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun, has disclosed that the institution would soon establish an Application Development Centre (ADC) to train students on simple mobile applications.
Oyeyinka disclosed this at a news conference to mark the 12th matriculation ceremony of the institution, and noted that the institution usually embarked on researchers on simple ICT-based investments and innovations that could turn around the economy of an individual and that of the country.
“This is an ICT Institution; what we do here is to research into simple ICT-based investments and innovation that can turn the economy of individual and the country around.
“Currently we are working at establishing application development centre where we can train the students to develop simple mobile applications that they can use and generate some funds for themselves,” he said.
Oyeyinka explained that the institution had been fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and had experienced tremendous transformation since its establishment.
The rector urged the students to shun all social vices such as examination malpractices and cultism, adding that those that engaged in them would face expulsion.
In her remarks, Modupe Mujota, the Ogun Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, assured the management of the institution of the state government’s continued assistance in the education in the state.
Mujota advised the students to be disciplined and dedicated to their studies to succeed in their academic pursuit.
The commissioner advised the students to embark on further research in order to enhance their knowledge in the subject areas and bell position for global competitiveness.
