Probanx Information Systems out with Mobile Teller Machine

Probanx Information Systems  Limited , a German managed software house based in Cyprus  which specializes in the development  and support of banking software , offering multi-branch, multi-currency  and multi-lingual  banking systems to financial institutions around the world has  released  a  new product called Mobile Teller.
Speaking to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, Georg Roider, managing director of the company said that Mobile Teller is an interesting product that adds much value to banking transactions. He said a bank marketer can visit a customer with the product and receive or pay cash with ease to the customer. All that is needed according to him is for the customer to give the bank staff his or her savings card that will have a PIN on it and the name of the customer. The bank staff verifies this by slotting the card onto the machine and immediately the person’s name and account number would come on.
Roider assured that the product has a lot of security checks to guard against fraud. For instance he said each user of the system must have user name and password that will enable the user have access to the system. The name and password he said must match the identity of the marketer using the machine otherwise if a wrong password is keyed in three times the machine will shut down .The unit is completely blocked until one goes back to the bank to open it. In that case the IT administrator will have to restart the machine.
In addition to other value added services the product can offer, Roider disclosed that the Mobile Teller machine, portable in nature, can also issue receipt in the name of the bank in every transaction made with date, time and terminal for the transaction indicated on the receipt. Further, the receipt contains the amount paid or received and can also provide account balance or mini statement of last five transactions to the customer. The bank marketer can also get new clients in the field and open temporary account for the customer pending when he gets back to his office to formalize the account later.
Roider said the system does not need another gateway between the Mobile Teller and the banking server and therefore does not attract any fee for external gateway connection which he said lowers the cost of transaction. To   make the opportunity available to most of the banks, Roider said the company is looking at the possibility of leasing out the machine to banks on monthly basis.
On the company’s banking solutions, Roider indicated that five Nigerian banks are already enjoying the solutions with a support office in Nigeria to attend to the needs of their customers. He also said that having different modules in one box is very important for the banking sector as it lowers the cost of operation.
