Professor David Adewumi has emerged the new president of Nigeria Computer Society in a keenly contested election and he succeeds Sir Ademola Aladekomo the immediate past president.
Adewumi, defeated Mr. Sam Juwe by 106 to 91 votes while Professor Sola Aderounmu also emerged the deputy president of the NCS, which is the first time such position is being elected into.
In his acceptance speech, the new president promised to further build on the achievements of the past leaderships of the Society especially the outgoing administration.
"We will take the NCS to the next level. We are going to build on the developments of Centres the centre piece of our agenda and make NCS the most relevant in the country. The present leadership is not going to abandon the agenda of the past administration rather we will solidify them," he said.
He also dedicated the victory to youth among the NCS.
Other results are, Mrs. Ola Owolabi (Credentials); Dr. Virginia Ejiofor (Chairman, publications); Mr. Jide Awe (Chairman, publicity); Mr. Moses Braimah (Chairman, Conferences); Mr. Abimbola Olayinka (Chairman, Ethics); Dr. Adesina Sodiya (Chairman, Education) and Mr. Adeoye Aderogba as ex - officio member.
The election was peaceful.
