In partnership with Microsoft Nigeria, Reliance Infosystems has unveiled Microsoft Azure as a timely measure to alleviating high IT capital expenditure by businesses.

In a joint statement released at a Customers Forum held recently, Mr Babajide Orungbe, Reliance Infosystems' Public Relations director, expressed that Azure is a revolutionary platform of choice as it continues to appeal to the cost-conscious organizations by reason of its pay per use model.

He further explained that businesses of today frown at locking down cash in the name of IT asset that will quickly depreciate along technology relevance.

“The beauty of Azure platform is the ability to spin up new solutions, access compute power and leverage enterprise ready Services quicker and faster than ever before and also allow you scale up and out as required at a great price point. With Microsoft Azure, your IT costs greatly reduce and allows you focus on your innovation while Microsoft takes care of your infrastructure." said Oluyomi Alarape, Microsoft Nigeria Business group director Cloud and Enterprise,

Sharing his thought on his experience with Azure platform, Cornerstone Insurance CTO, Mr. Olasoji Tehingbola commented thus "Just like we have witnessed in Office 365, Azure promises the much desirable agility to our business. Being able to provision new services on-the-fly will reduce our deployment window from weeks to hours."

"We were able to relieve the capacity strains on our on premise data center by extending it to Microsoft Cloud platform. At any point in time, we can leverage Azure for any workload".   said GZ Industries IT Head, Mr. Yomi Zannu.

Mr. Eniola Benjamin, Vetiva Capital Management Business Solutions Head, noted that "Azure is an indispensable platform for its development and quality assurance processes on the one hand and on the other, the hosting of Vetiva’s various services for its clients, partners and work force.  Azure will allow Vetiva curtail its IT infrastructure spend while nimbly adapting to an ever changing business climate.  Time to market for various business initiatives is already on the decline.  This in turn is increasing Vetiva’s ability to grow its client base, diversify its business portfolio and ultimately increase its bottom line while preserving the very tenets of its brand.”

Business and technology is changing at a rapid pace.  Enterprise customers are investigating cloud computing as a component of their future datacenter strategy based on three key drivers – speed, scale and economics.

By Chike Onwuegbuchi17 Aug 2026

There is a strange thing about regulation: everybody wants clarity until clarity comes with a bill. Given that is probably why the conversation around Nigeria’s proposed 1.5% stamp duty on virtual asset transactions has quickly become a debate about the number. Is 1.5% too much? Will it make crypto more expensive? Will users simply move elsewhere?
