Eight corporate organisations would vie for the coveted Remita Corporate Championship trophy in a football tournament in Lagos
The electronic payment space has been extended further as Remita, the premium electronic payment platform, has shouldered the responsibility of sponsoring the annual corporate games tagged Remita Corporate Championship Cup, which has attracted the likes of MTN, Etisalat, Skye Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Leadway Assurance, NEM Insurance and PZ Cussons.
These organisations would compete among themselves for the ultimate Remita trophy in a football tournament over three weeks.
Remita is employing the tournament as a complementary channel to further extend and deepen the cashless initiative, which the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] is championing.
Through this tournament, some participating organisations that have not fully embraced the cashless regime would have an encounter with Remita and its value propositions.
During the tournament, these eight corporate organisations that are champions and runners-up from the banking, telecommunications, insurance and fast moving consumer goods [FMCG] industries would battle for honours from April 12 to 27 at the Onikan and Campos Stadia in Lagos to determine the king of corporate football in Nigeria who would lift the 2014 Remita Corporate Champions Cup.
Remita is a premium electronic payment platform deployed by the banks, governments and corporate organizations for electronic payments, collections, payroll processing and schedules delivery to PFAs and Tax authorities.
It helps corporations and individuals to easily adoptthe e-payment practice, which is the cardinal objective of the CBN’s cashless policy.
Users can issue standing order payments, post-dated cheques for recurring payments, monitor and authorize payments from remote locations, trace and investigate payments made among others.
Speaking at the trophy and official logo-unveiling event in Lagos, Mr. John Obaro, managing director/CEO, SystemSpecs, the company behind Remita, explained that the company is in the forefront of promoting a healthy work life balance and cross-industry relationships among professionals through sports as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
In attendance at the event was Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Barrister Seyi Akinwumni, Managing Director of Media Vision, Fela Bank-Olemoh, representatives of participating organisations and Peter Rufai, Nigeria's former national team goalkeeper who is the Remita Corporate Champions Cup Ambassador.
