House of Representatives has summoned Mr Bisi Adegbuyi, immediate past post master general (PMG) of Nigeria, over the failure of the organisation to render its audited accounts since 2014.
The move came through the Committee on Public Accounts on Wednesday in Abuja, when the management of NIPOST, led by Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, PMG, appeared before it at the National Assembly.
The committee was investigating the refusal of Non-Treasury Funded and Partially Funded Agencies to Render their Audited Accounts from 2014 to date, to the Auditor-General of the Federation .
Dr Adewusi during questioning told the Committee that he just resumed office recently and that frantic efforts were in top gear to get the audited accounts ready for submission.
The Committee however described the presentation as unacceptable, and insisted that the immediate past Post Master General of the Federation be made to appear before it to account for his stewardship.
Hon Oluwole Oke, chairman of the Committee, said, “this is strange, this is not a private entity but a public one in which several billions of naira are being budgeted for every year, I think the former NIPOST boss must appear before this Committee to account for his stewardship.
“He owes Nigerians full explanations on how he expended their money, this is not a Banana Republic where anything goes.”
