RGU Forges Education Ties across West Africa

A team from Robert Gordon University (RGU) will travel to West Africa later this month to meet prospective students and forge education ties across the region.

Jamie Hastings, regional manager will spend time in Nigeria and Ghana in March and will attend a number of education events to meet those who are interested in studying at RGU.

He will be joined by Dr Craig McKenzie programme leader in MSc Instrumental Analytical Sciences, and Dr Charles Maddison, course leader in MSc Energy Management.

They will be in Nigeria’s capital city Abuja for a number of education events and meetings from Tuesday, March 17 to Thursday, March 19 then Lagos on Saturday, March 21 to attend another event.

The team will then be in Ghana’s capital Accra from Monday, March 23 to Thursday, March 26.

There they will give advice to prospective students who are looking to apply for courses at the university, and will provide information on distance learning study options and scholarship opportunities.

Mr Hastings said: “Nigeria is RGU’s largest international recruitment market and we welcome a significant number of students into our courses every year.

“During our trip to West Africa we will be attending several exhibitions and giving presentations in both Nigeria and Ghana to promote the benefits of studying in Aberdeen.”

Throughout their time in West Africa the team will spend time with scholarship bodies, RGU alumni and international companies, focusing on encouraging international students to study at the university.

They will also hold student interview sessions, which give students the chance to ask questions about the university and the city of Aberdeen.
