Capt. Edward Boyo, chief executive officer of Overland Airways at the weekend participated in flying Ibadan and Lagos bound passengers following the flight 1186, an ATR 72 aircraft with Registration number 5N-BPG from Abuja airport to Ilorin carrying 59 passengers and 4 crew that veered off the runway at low speed after a normal landing at the Ilorin Airport.
The incident which occurred on Saturday 29th November at 4.45pm has no casualty recorded.
However, the Accident and Prevention Bureau in conjunction with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.
Meanwhile, a statement from the airland on Sunday said that the passengers airlifted from Ilorin Airport safely arrived in Ibadan and Lagos, and have gone onwards to their various destinations.
Capt. Edward Boyo, managing director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Overland Airways, personally addressed and flew the passengers from Ilorin to Ibadan and Lagos to the admiration and applause of the passengers.
“Passengers responded with a show of confidence, and all 50 passengers were airlifted from Ilorin on the flight to Ibadan and Lagos. 22 passengers disembarked at Ibadan Airport, while 28 disembarked in Lagos, in addition to 2 other passengers that embarked at Ibadan.
“Overland Airways maintains the strictest standard of safety and assures our esteemed customers and the general public of safe, comfortable and satisfactory service at all times.
“Overland Airways is committed to the development of Nigeria’s growing economy especially through the provision of dedicated air travel services to an increasing number of Nigeria’s hinterland airports,” the statement read.
Overland Airways commenced flight operations in 2002, and has provided uninterrupted services to Nigeria over the past 12 years.

Also, the Accident and Prevention Bureau in conjunction with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority while launching an investigation into the cause of the incident, reassured Nigerians that safety of the traveling public is still paramount and cannot be compromised.
