Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Captain Fola Akikuotu as the substantive director general, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), following the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Aviation which recommended his approval for the Senate.

Akikuotu's approval is coming almost three months and two week after his name was forwarded to the Senate for consideration as the director general following the exit of Dr. Harold Demuren erstwhile DG of the all important Agency.

Akinkuotu was the rector, International Aviation College Ilorin Nigeria and had worked as director International Operations at Air Nigeria (2010 – October 2011), director of Flight Operations at Virgin Nigeria Airways (February 2010 – January 2011) and managing director/chief operation officer at IRS Airlines (2001 – 2002).

He was a pilot with Kabo Air between 1986 and 1991. Akinkuotu's skills and expertise encompass aviation  flight operations , aviation industry  aircraft  consultancy, management consulting  instructing , commercial aviation  operations management, strategic planning, flight planning,  aircraft maintenance,  aircraft leasing,  management airports,  flight safety , civil aviation  and recruitment and training.
