Mrs. Florence Seriki, the group managing director of Omatek Computers Plc., has been nominated as ITAN representative at the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (Witsa). This came as a result of the active role the Amazon has been playing in the development of IT industry.
Seriki is a founding partner (Asia) of Information Technology Association of Nigeria (Itan) and in the vanguard of Information Technology (IT) in the rest of West Africa sub-region.
Dr. Jimson Olufuye, the president of Itan, in a letter to Soo Pei Ling, GTC chairman said he was pleased to nominate Mrs. Seriki, ITAN founding partner (Asia) and group managing director of Omatek Computers Plc as Itan's representative at the Witsa Global Trade Committee. Similarly, nominated as deputy representative, according to the letter is Arinola Akinyemi, Itan Treasurer, Chairman of the Abuja Chapter of ITAN and chief executive officer (CEO), Omar Ventures Limited respectively.
"As mentioned by the GTC chairman, the main role of the GTC member is to assist the committee in identifying potential areas of increasing the Global ICT Trade and in due course benefit all Witsa members.”In addition to the committee, we also have a secretariat team to assist in the operation and implementation of the GTC targets/objectives" the letter added.
With excitement, Seriki, while responding to the new appointment expressed her sincere appreciation for being nominated as Itan's representative at the Witsa Global Trade Committee. "Please accept my warm gratitude," she said.
Already, at its recent Board of Directors meeting at The Hague held last month, Olufuye said that WITSA had concluded plans for its 2009 Global Public Policy Summit taking place in Bermuda, adding that an update of its 2010 IT Olympiad to be hosted by The Netherlands in May 2010 was also reviewed.
