Babachir Lawal, secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the guest of Honour, and Barrister Adebayo Shittu, minister of Communication, the Keynote Speaker, will lead high profile dignitaries to grace the 26th National Conference of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) holding from Tuesday 19th to Thursday 21st of July, 2016, at NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, under the theme, “Information Technology for National Safety and Security”.
The NCS National Conference is regarded as the this most important and influential event which is Nigeria’s largest event for the IT Industry and Profession.
NCS is the umbrella body of all IT professionals and organizations in Nigeria, with more than 17,000 members and major interest groups (ISPON, ITAN, ISPAN, NiWIIT and ITSSP).
Professor Aderounmu said, “In line with our emphasis on innovation we will be adopting various approaches through this most unique gathering of IT academia, industry and thought leaders addresses to challenges and highlights opportunities related to building a digital, prosperous, inclusive and SECURE Nigeria that leverages information technology to achieve the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Already, the Defence Headquarters, DG, NIGCOMSAT, DG, NIMC, EVC, NCC, DG, Galaxy Backbone, Acting DG, NITDA amongst many others in the public and private sectors have all confirmed their participation, said Professor Adesola Aderounmu, national president of NCS, while briefing the press on Thursday on preparations towards the Conference.
The event which draws particpants from government, private and educational sectors, as well as from the international and global IT environment in the ocuntry, will also witness Mike Hinchey, president elect, International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), leading international participation to the event.
Hinchey will deliver the Goodwill Message during the Opening Ceremony and serve as Keynote Speaker during a Plenary Session on "Innovation in National Safety and Security".
Established in 1960 under the auspices of UNESCO, IFIP is the leading global organization in Information and Communications Technologies and Sciences. IFIP is recognized by the UN, as the body representing IT societies from all over the world. The Nigeria Computer Society is a member of IFIP.
“NCS is preparing for the best and has assembled an impressive line-up of leading researchers, entrepreneurs, educators, industry experts, thought leaders, international scholars and subject matter experts as speakers and resource persons to share their extensive knowledge and experience on the theme and sub themes. Attendees will benefit greatly from their knowledge and insights.
